ANTONIO
You have gotten very attached lately - want to be wherever mommy is. You love to play cars, and stickers and color. You love SuperWhy on TV and wear a cape and run around yelling SuperWhy saves the day!
You love going out and about with mommy or daddy and you are usually best behaved when it's just one on one time. You're very excited to be 3 and have birthday cake and and you practiced so hard making your fingers into a three so you can tell everyone. Whenever you meet someone new you are the most social of your brothers. You always say "I'm Antonio, I have blue eyes, these are my new shoes, my mommy got them." Gotta love a kid who works shoes into an opening conversation.
HARRIS
Harris - sweet sweet cuddly little bear. You are so chatty - you repeat everything and sound just like an adult. At your birthday party you came and sat down next to me, heaved a big contented sigh and said "Isn't it such a nice day today? I love the breeze." This morning when I woke you up and said Happy Birthday you were so happy and said "It's my birthday AGAIN? I'm three all over again?!"
You love to play with the train set (but it breaks all the time) you love your new scooter and were the first one to take off and running with it.
While you are the most chatty at home, you are shy out and about and take a while to get comfortable with new people. You spend most of the first few minutes meeting people telling them "That's my Mom."
You love to be silly - you make a funny mad face and come up to me and say "WHAT YOU DOIN?" In your best deep loud voice. Then you laugh and laugh and do it all over again.
You are the funny mediator between your brothers. When Lawrence and Antonio were fighting the other night at dinner you suggested everyone would feel better if they stuck baby carrots in their noses!
LAWRENCE
Lawrence, you are my goof. You are constantly laughing the funniest little laugh with bright smiling eyes. When Harris was trying to be a serious guitar player, you sillied it up in front of him.
You're very cautious - don't like to climb too high, don't like to ride the bikes. You would only get on your scooter "after mommy puts on my helmet." Boy - that was grandma's proud moment. Finally. One on her side!
You were the first one to stick your finger in the BIG cake even though you already had a piece for yourself.
The other day, daddy was working late, and I said "Let's send daddy a message and say hi because he's at work. You said "no he isn't at work, he's at golf." I wonder what you think we do all day. You were worried about the birthday party because you were worried that kids would go in your bed and come and "touch your THTUFF."
You don't like loud noises. If the boys are being too loud, or are fighting you come in and say "ok ok ok ok ok what's going on here"???
Boys - you three make a great team. You balance out each other - and even work through the sharing of toys and now you realize you'll always share a birthday. This morning, Antonio you said "This is my bunny, his birthday is tomorrow. It's ONLY his birthday nobody else gets to have that birthday with him."
I can't believe we are one month away from these boys' birthday. The boys have become such a cute tight knit group. If one of them wakes up before the others, when the other two wake up they are so upset that there is a missing brother. They will go to his bed and I'll hear them over the monitor "Where's Lawrence!? I can't see him!"
We went easter egg hunting and they all had to compare eggs.
ANTONIO
Antonio - you are working so hard on your speech therapy and you love doing all of the projects. All we need to do is tell you that Shannon is coming over, and you quickly get dressed, wolf down your breakfast and start jumping around and laughing with excitement. You love to cut with the blue scissors, play with stickers, paint, and play with your animals.
HARRIS
You have gotten quite contrary in the past few weeks. Despite this cute smile here, beneath lies a very very determined little boy. If everyone is painting you DON'T WANT TO DO IT! If everyone is going to take a bath you NOT TAKING A BATH! If we are having chicken you want meatballs. Bedtime has been rough and we've had to resort to staying in the room with you all until you fall asleep otherwise you instigate the group to jump from bed to bed.
LAWRENCE
Lawrence - you love to give kisses and hugs. Whenever we go to a playground, you find a girl to try and talk to. At easter you kept trying to show all the girls "the big trucks" you were playing with and were sad when they weren't interested. You are a bit of an instigator with your brothers - like to get really really close when they don't want to play. You said "i'm NOOOOOT touching."
Amelia - your birthday was last week and you are 10! Double digits - I can't believe it. I have delayed on writing your post, because I am in a little bit denial that my baby is 10. As I snuggled you the night of your birthday and told you how I couldn't believe you were getting so big and you were already 10 - you did NOT make me feel better when you told me "well, at least I'm not 30, mom!"
Amelia birthday - my little peanut. I brought you home and just stared at you for hours like this.
Amelia 1st Birthday - your first birthday party was in Rio and was a massive event!
Amelia 2nd birthday - much much smaller event in the Land Park house.
We took you to Carmel for a weekend trip - you loved the sand
Amelia 3rd birthday - First birthday in Davis - Balloons and Grandma did a puppet show
This was the year you fell in love with Barak Obama
Amelia 4th birthday - Mardis Gras and facepainting
Amelia 5th birthday - Davis Diamonds party
This was your last birthday at your preschool
Amelia 6th birthday - you insisted on having it at Chuck E Cheese - unfortunately, you were sick to your stomach that day and didn't get to enjoy yourself as much as you hoped. We've never been back.
Amelia's 7th birthday - Olivia's dollhouse dress up and tea party!
This was your last birthday as an only child. And when you found out we were having triplets!
Amelia's 8th birthday
Amelia's 9th birthday - Rock Star party!
Amelia's 10th birthday! You are my unique, confident, funny girl.
The boys are getting close to 3 now, getting used to big boy beds, asking to use the bathroom, and generally getting to be much easier to go out and about with. We took a day trip to SF last weekend to go to the Academy of Science and it was a major success. A good solid 3 1/2- 4 hours of walking around, aquarium, lunch, and play.
The boys love working on activities together - painting, and anything you call a "project".
They also love to walk down to the end of our street and look for polllywogs and frogs.
ANTONIO
You are such a talker now. We're still working on your diction, but you're much less frustrated now that we understand you! This month has introduced the best two words you've ever discovered ... "maybe later." These two words have really helped whenever you can't or don't get what you want. Let's say you ask for a cookie and it's time to eat lunch. Instead of getting upset, you have started to just say "maybe later." And this resolves your upset. Oh boy it's been a game changer. You have grown very attached to your whale and take it everywhere you go, to bed, to bath, to lunch.
Can I hold that frog?
Mischievous smile
Detail guy building a massive animal battle
HARRIS
Harris - you are becoming the protector and the translator for your brothers. Wherever we go you make sure that people know "that's my mom" and "that's my brothers." When we went to the doctor the other day, Lawrence was very scared to have the doctor look in his ears and put the pulse oximeter on his finger. When the doctor came into the office you immediately got between Lawrence and the doctor and said "He doesn't want that thing on him, that's my brother, he's scared, you can't put that thing on him, he doesn't want it, that's my mom, maybe you put that thing on her, and don't touch Lawrence, don't scare my brother!" You let the doctor check your ears first then turned to Lawrence and told him "it's not scary it's ok!" Then we went to dentist this week, Antonio got nervous so you jumped in the chair first to show him it wasn't scary. You went to him and told him "I did it! You do it! I high five you!" Yesterday after we were getting out of the bath, the other boys had left their new toys in the tub - you grabbed them all and chased after them and said "broooothers! I have your new toys for you!" I love how you watch out for them.
Finding dandelion wishes
LAWRENCE
You are my big smiley, kissy boy. You want to kiss all the time. Your hugs are huge wrapping arms around my neck and you hate to let go. You're also my homebody kid. You like to go out to the park, and library and museum, but after about an hour, you say "I miss my bunny, I want to go home." You like to be home, snuggling on the couch and reading books best of all. Your two word phrase that you respond to everything later is "not yet." As in "want to get up?" "Not yet." Did you finish your dinner "not yet." Time for bed? Not yet.
Curly cutie
AMELIA
Such a great big sister - you are so sweet to your brothers. You're such a big helper to us when we go out and about and you're so patient that our day trips are so much different than they used to be. You get rewarded with a just trip for you to Europe in a few weeks!
Whatever "yaya" is looking at they want to be a part of.
FIRST DANCE COMPETITION!
You had your first dance competition this past week and you have such a fun group of girls to participate with. You worked so hard, and you were rewarded for all your hard work!
Unle Boff, Jeffy, Heffy, Baby J, Middle Bro - I hope your birthDay is everything a Rockstar like you deserves.
FUN FACTS ABOUT JEFF
He laughed out loud when he was just days old (mom).
Jeff once texted me the following: My plans to rock you like a hurricane have been downgraded to a tropical depression. (Stephanie)
He met and married someone who allowed him to post things like this on Facebook “Girlfriend came home to find out she had mice. At least it wasn’t crabs.”
When he was five years old he got up and made himself some eggs on the stove. (mom)
But when he was two years old he climbed up to the second story of the house on a ladder outside. (matt)
He knows more lines of stand-up than anyone. (Stephanie)

He and Jeremy once took that catamaran out at the cabin and sank it. (Stephanie)

You were there for my first baby. (Jeff and Amelia)
And however many I had after that. (Jeff and Harris)
Amelia was so lucky that you lived in Sacramento during those early years - she got to have lunch with Uncle Jeff several times a week.
From Uncle Jeff’s birthday 2010
Me: Amelia, It's your Uncle Jeff's Birthday Saturday. Amelia: Oooh. We should get him a Cinderella, or a Sleeping Beauty. Me: Why? Amelia: Uncle Jeff likes to play princess. Me: I think we should give him something he loves. Amelia: Ooh! (very excited now...) He loves ME! I will draw him a picture of me! Me: He will love it. Amelia: Oh yeah. He is going to go crazy for it.
Even after you moved away, we got you for regular dress up parties
And she has clearly inherited your sense of humor
The boys love the Uncle Boff so much too.
Other neices are pretty lucky to have you around now too.
You are loved by cousins
And you have fun with your brother (hope it doesn't bring you down to see Old Monterey Blue Sweatshirt enjoying itself out in the wild. RIP OLD BLUE)
Willing to take on even the biggest foe.

HAPPY 40TH BIRTHDAY BABY BRO - I LOVE YOU FROM THE BOTTOM (see what I did there?) OF MY HEART!
Jeff’s musings when he turned 35
I am turning 35 this week and this birthday I reflected back more on my life than the other totally awesome 34. My life has been made up of wild and crazy chapters. Some not worth repeating, others by all means repeat. There are some stories no matter how many times I hear them, still funny. Like the time I got really drunk and asked everyone to punch me in the face. Or the time I ran into a friend of my dad’s who I was surprised to see. I honestly thought he was dead.
I have noticed that my parents were right about a lot and I now know what they were talking about when I was younger. All people younger than you are snot nose punks. Wherever I go there I am. Pay me now or pay me later are words to financially live by. Big boobs are nice, but big personality is better (My dad knows what he is talking about people). Everyone has some sort of prejudice, even towards me. It is ok because you probably feel the same way about them. Michael Jackson was weird.
They were also wrong about some things. Stranger danger philosophy as an adult won’t get me laid. It is ok to use drugs. You can cross the street before the light changes. Sometimes burning bridges feels great. There is never a bad time for dick jokes. It is ok to be a jerk especially if it means people don’t pester you about something. For example, the past few years at weddings people would ask me, when is it your turn to get married? I returned the favor by asking them when it was their turn when I ran into them at a funeral. They don’t ask me that question anymore, in fact they avoid me in general.
I have not danced like no one is looking or loved like I won’t get hurt or drank in moderation. I have however ran a bar tab up like I am made of money and picked a fight with someone not my own size and have a hangover that lasted 2 days.
My knees and eyes are not what they use to be. My hair is going grey. Hearing in loud places is getting worse. It is a blessing is disguised, because I don’t care what others have to say anymore and I only like hearing myself talk.
People have come and gone in my life and some just won’t leave. Some I miss every day, some I wish would come back just for a second so I could tell them to fuck off one last time. Good friends call to say hello, better friends send you naked photos of their girlfriends or wives. You can’t pick who you are related to, but they are usually the only ones standing by when you crash and burn. Unless you have a lawyer on retainer, then to hell with them. In my case, my legal dream is my family. Best in biz.
I am 35, so I guess for a male residing in the US this is half time. I should then strategize, not a real word, for the second half . I could just wing it though. It has worked out ok so far.
