The boys are getting close to 3 now, getting used to big boy beds, asking to use the bathroom, and generally getting to be much easier to go out and about with. We took a day trip to SF last weekend to go to the Academy of Science and it was a major success. A good solid 3 1/2- 4 hours of walking around, aquarium, lunch, and play.
The boys love working on activities together - painting, and anything you call a "project".
They also love to walk down to the end of our street and look for polllywogs and frogs.
ANTONIO
You are such a talker now. We're still working on your diction, but you're much less frustrated now that we understand you! This month has introduced the best two words you've ever discovered ... "maybe later." These two words have really helped whenever you can't or don't get what you want. Let's say you ask for a cookie and it's time to eat lunch. Instead of getting upset, you have started to just say "maybe later." And this resolves your upset. Oh boy it's been a game changer. You have grown very attached to your whale and take it everywhere you go, to bed, to bath, to lunch.

HARRIS
Harris - you are becoming the protector and the translator for your brothers. Wherever we go you make sure that people know "that's my mom" and "that's my brothers." When we went to the doctor the other day, Lawrence was very scared to have the doctor look in his ears and put the pulse oximeter on his finger. When the doctor came into the office you immediately got between Lawrence and the doctor and said "He doesn't want that thing on him, that's my brother, he's scared, you can't put that thing on him, he doesn't want it, that's my mom, maybe you put that thing on her, and don't touch Lawrence, don't scare my brother!" You let the doctor check your ears first then turned to Lawrence and told him "it's not scary it's ok!" Then we went to dentist this week, Antonio got nervous so you jumped in the chair first to show him it wasn't scary. You went to him and told him "I did it! You do it! I high five you!" Yesterday after we were getting out of the bath, the other boys had left their new toys in the tub - you grabbed them all and chased after them and said "broooothers! I have your new toys for you!" I love how you watch out for them.

LAWRENCE
You are my big smiley, kissy boy. You want to kiss all the time. Your hugs are huge wrapping arms around my neck and you hate to let go. You're also my homebody kid. You like to go out to the park, and library and museum, but after about an hour, you say "I miss my bunny, I want to go home." You like to be home, snuggling on the couch and reading books best of all. Your two word phrase that you respond to everything later is "not yet." As in "want to get up?" "Not yet." Did you finish your dinner "not yet." Time for bed? Not yet.

AMELIA
Such a great big sister - you are so sweet to your brothers. You're such a big helper to us when we go out and about and you're so patient that our day trips are so much different than they used to be. You get rewarded with a just trip for you to Europe in a few weeks!
