I recently found this lovely photo amongst the boxes as I was unpacking recently.  It was 1988.  Forgive me.  Please also forgive me, dear ozone layer for what my friends and I must have done to you with our bottles of AquaNet.

Could we BE any dorkier?

Things I love about this photo: lots of lace overlay, the fact that we clearly all planned this photo - thus the 3 sets of sunglasses; that we all part our hair on the same side, our matching black hose and low black heels. 

I'm also in disbelief, because I totally thought I was fat and you can tell I'm totally sucking in.  I want to just to back and shake 17 year old me by the shoulders and yell "You're thin now!  Enjoy it!"

Cute statement of the day...

Amelia and I were walking into school this morning.  She bent down to pick up a dandelion:

When she went to pick it the wind picked up and blew it all away. 

She sighed and said "oh well, the wind just took all those wishes."

Swimming!

Amelia's swimming abilities have taken off!  She has been taking lessons for almost a month now at the new club we joined near our new house.  She signed up for a class of 3 kids, but the other two hardly ever show up, so Amelia's getting essentially private lessons all summer. 

What do you think?  Think she likes it?

"Just a little glitch"

Me: Um. There's a pretty big credit on my macy's that's not mine.

Macy's girl:

Oh! yes, you paid $165,000.00 on the account.

Me:

yes - didn't you wonder why someone would pay that much when they only owed $68.00

Macy's girl: I

think it might have been a glitch. Did you check your account to see whether or not you were missing that money?

Me:

I miss that money every day. I dont' have that money in my account. Who has a Macy's bill that big anyway?

Macy's girl: You would not believe what we see around here.

[30 minutes of attempts to fix it]

Macy's girl:

Ok, we're going to try and figure this out, but in the meantime, don't spend that money.

Me: um. ok

Nighttime ailments

Amelia's new bed time ritual is to call out with various ailments in an attempt to garner sympathy and get us to sleep in bed with her.  Some of them are hilarious.  Here are the most recent ones:

• Her throat hurts because she swallowed a tooth.
• Her leg hurts because all the bones are gone.
• She has a "crump" in her toe.
• She has wood chips in her heel.
• Her foot hurts because "it has no power".
