All's Fair.

The California State Fair.  Land of the deep fried twinkie and other healty items.  It's every year in August, which is lovely in Sacramento where our August weather tends to be in the low 100's.  We were lucky to attend this fair on a cooler day.  Since we arrived at 10am it was only 92 at that time.  Aaahhhh... mid-90's weather, deep fried food and livestock.  Quite a combination.  But, for Amelia and her friend Elise, nothing was better than the petting zoo full of sheep, llamas, roosters, pigs, deer and wallabys!

A taste of 2 near 2.

One of the things we did on our trip to Seattle was spend some time at our cabin in Olympia on Puget Sound.  I got a tiny taste of what it must have been like for my mom growing up.  Keep in mind that when we were growing up we had at any given time, 5 or 6 children under two.  In this cabin.  When it was raining.  Here's what it was like this time with just two little ones:

Amelia learned that nursury rhyme song this week when we took a trip up to the Pacific Nothwest to see my dad and family.  We had typical Washington weather which was drizzly, with some heavier rainstorms.  But like the hearty northwesterners we are, we went outside anyway and (1) pretended it wasn't as bad as it was or (2) hoped it would clear.  It usually did both. 

Traveling to Washington went pretty well - sent my luggage up in the car with my mom so we wouldn't have to check luggage and we were ready to go with as little carry-on as possible.  Diaper bag, small bag for movies/food/books and stroller which converts to carseat.  And, easy slip off and on shoes for the both of us.  Mine are Stuart Weitzmans given by a friend who didn't like them.  Amelia's are See Kai Run which we bought in Carmel last year.  Comfy.

We had a great visit in Washington, Amelia got to see Grandpa Tom, Uncle Matt and Cousin Rory.  We really enjoyed our time up at our cabin at Puget Sound where Amelia got to throw rocks in the water and pick up crabs with Rory:
