I love when everyone shoes up to book club. (Ok - I meant to write "shows up to book club" and I accidentally wrote "shoes up" and I think that might be the most serendipitous typo ever.)

I love our new neighborhood. I love our new house. I am enjoying the new space so much. If I needed anymore evidence that the place we now live is anything but magical, THIS showed up in our neighborhood this morning.
Seriously? I had no idea that PEACOCKS even lived in the wild! Well, or in neighborhoods with people all around. I was so excited and went back to the office and told everyone about it. Everyone was all "Ew! Those are so dirty, they will come in your house and poop!" "Oh mi gaaaawd. Those are so loud and screetchy." Grouchy, jaded Californians! I could not have been more excited about this magical animal had a unicorn crossed the street in front of me this morning. Amelia got her exotic birds confused a little - check out the video. (the honking is me accidentally hitting the horn).
Seeing this peacock confirmed two things for me:
(1) We made the right decision moving to this land of magical exotic birds;
(2) It's good that I take my camera with me everywhere since my husband did not believe me and tried to convince me I had seen a "chucker" or a "pheasant."
HA! SO THERE HONEY! love you :-)

This little dog is a piece of art in my office - His name is Jimmy Chew. Amelia came by this office and was very excited about Jimmy Chew the dog. She said "Oh No Momma! That dog has a shoe! Poor shoe!" Thank goodness we now know she's definitely my kid.

We spent the day visiting Thomas the Train. It was a beautiful day and we got to go on a train ride with our good friend, Nick.
As you can see, Thomas was clearly holding her interest:
Later that evening, she had a friend over for dinner and there was dancing:

Alternatively Entitled: Unexpected Search Results.
I was searching for an umbrella base for patio furniture in our new house. One of the top 10 search results was THIS.
Any explanations out there? Anyone need one of these items?

This morning I was getting dressed and Amelia comes in while I'm mostly undressed and says "Oooh. Mama Scary!" I thought it was really really sweet that my half naked body strikes fear in the heart of my daughter. I had no response for her. A few minutes later, she pointed at my leg (I'm wearing nude colored fishnet stockings) and she says "Mama's legs … Scary!!!"
So, maybe she's frightened by my stockings and my fashion choices and not so much my body.
I'm gonna go with that. What do you think... Scary?

If you find yourself bored, too comfortable, enjoying yourself... immediately if not sooner, turn your life, home and two year old's sense of stability upside down and move to a new house. One of my "must haves" for the move was total moving assistance. I wanted them to pack. I wanted them to move EVERYTHING. And if possible, I wanted them to unpack what they would agree to.
I was so happy on Friday after work when I came home to see that the movers had come and neatly (so I thought) packed up all of our closets, drawers, kitchen, etc.
On the actual day of the move - the movers arrived and saw that the previous day's "packers" had not done all the packing they were supposed to. Mover guy: "Um, we can't move these unpacked items in your garage." Me: "Um, yeah you can." Mover guy: "We don't pack." Me: "Yeah - I don't either." [impasse] After some discussion - I got my way, and the guys packed up everything. It wasn't Mover Guy's fault. It was Packer Guy's fault. But PG wasn't there, so MG had to deal with the fallout of PG's bad day of work.
I felt a little bad for the guys since they had the good fortune to move me on the first over 90 degree day of the year.
I felt a lot less bad when theydid this to my floor of my old house which HELLO MOVER GUYS!! I'm trying to sell here!
I was also cursing Packer Guy when I opened one of my boxes and saw this.
Seriously? This box was packed by a PROFESSIONAL MOVER? Amelia could have done a better job. Seriously, should could have. She's only two but she's really really into organization and putting things where they belong. And then flinging them around the room. And them putting them back. And then flinging. And then.... well, you get my drift.
Point being? This is a REALLY REALLY crappy packing job of kitchen items. Right? I'm not being crazy right?
I mean, the foam letters with the meat thermometer with the Christmas penguin cheese spreaders with my special hard boiled egg slicer??
Maybe it's my kitchen items that are strange and thus the packer guy felt the need to treat them badly?
But, by the end of the day we were moving in. And now our house looks like this... Pictures of house in more moved in format to follow:
